Twin Springs Ranch is an original homestead in Montrose established in 1890 by “Uncle Chalmers” , as his descendants and current owners refer to him. As legend has it, Chalmers did the best he could to farm and ranch his unique property , even before the uncomphagre water project came through his land. After the water project was completed in 1909 he fared well raising vegetables, grains and livestock. He was even generous enough to share the gleanings with the Ute Indians that still roamed the area. He was a hard working fellow, all the while riding his horse and buggy to Cedaredge Colorado as he was also a school teacher there.
